SHOUT was an event created by the Project Red members to raise awareness of period poverty throughout Thailand. During this event, we had dances, speeches, games and also a visit from Days for Girls representatives. This event was highly successful at raising awareness for our club. We also collected donations in donation boxes that were placed around the stage. Because of these donation boxes, we raised over 5,000 baht and we were able to present a check to Days of Girls, an organization based in Hua Hin. Days for girls collects donations to be able to make period packages for girls without access to feminine hygiene products in rural Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Highlights of this event were mainly all of the performances. It was amazing to see how students were willing to be involved with our club and listen to the information we were trying to communicate with our audience. This event was for MS and HS students because we felt this needed to be educated to everyone. As MS and HS students were getting involved, this allowed our club to build a bigger audience and gain more donations for young girls. The overall message we were trying to communicate during this event was that we need to help those that are not able to support themselves. Period products are expensive and somewhat unrealistic to buy in some circumstances.
