The aim of our stall was to fundraise, advocate and educate about period poverty across Thailand! Read more to find out how much money was raised and what we did to advocate for the club!
Project Red came together and created a stall at IFF to raise funds for the club, the club offered an assortment of sweets and treats for people who came to our stall and took a few throws at our Dart throwing activity, throwers were given 3 darts at first and if they wished to throw more each dart would cost 10 baht or one ticket. We arrived prior to the commencement of IFF Decorating, organizing, and blowing up balloons that were to be hung up on the Dart Board. Prior to that we printed small slips of paper that were to be placed inside the balloons and these designated what prize the thrower had earned based on the color of the paper along with some of the sweets and treats on offer being baked by Project Red’s own group members. By the end of the day, the Club had accumulated 9,000 baht from purchases of sweets, cupcakes, Darts, cookies and other prizes!
The day was a good day for the club with it being a relatively new one and being one of the lesser known clubs of all of the ones active at ISB and the accumulation of 9,000 was a big success. It also served as a good time for group members to bond during the day and with members of neighboring stalls. The day saw many highlights but one particular was a reoccurring affair, a young girl enthusiastic about throwing darts would buy them in bulk (5 or more darts) and upon spending all of her money and darts she would then remark that she would come back again and again she did. The enthusiasm she showed was not unique to her but a common factor among all participants and this stall gave the group time to interact with not only the members of ISB but also members of the Nichada community. This event gave way financially for the club to then make donations and financial decisions for future events and for the future of the club.
